Topping-out Ceremony for the New Barnet Europe Headquarters in Eschweiler

With a symbolic topping-out ceremony, PRODAC and Barnet Europe celebrated the construction progress of the new Barnet European headquarters in Eschweiler, around five months after the groundbreaking. In collaboration with BGO, PRODAC is developing a bespoke European headquarters for the globally active production, recycling, and trading company Barnet Europe at a strategically important location for the business.

Around 100 guests attended the event, including numerous employees of the future sole tenant Barnet Europe, representatives from BGO (investor and owner), Goldbeck International (general contractor), Modevconsult (project manager), René Schulz, Head of Economic Development for the City of Eschweiler, designated Mayor Patrick Nowicki, other representatives of the city administration, and neighboring companies.

The new building, offering approximately 23,000 m² of office, production, and warehouse space, is being constructed on a 41,400 m² site at Zeppelinstraße/Dürwißer Straße in accordance with DGNB Platinum standards – the highest certification level of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Handover of the property is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

Bernd Lenzen, Managing Director of Barnet Europe, expressed his appreciation for the project’s progress and quality during his speech: “With our new company headquarters, we are bringing all our operations together under one roof for the first time. Previously spread across three sites in Aachen, B-Raeren, and Eschweiler, everything will now be consolidated in one central location. This creates shorter distances, promotes collaboration, and strengthens our efficiency – an important step towards the future and the sustainable development of our company. We are especially pleased that so many of our colleagues are getting their first detailed impression of their future workplace today – and we are confident they will feel very much at home here.”

Lars Zimmermann, Managing Director of PRODAC Industrial Real Estate, added: “We are proud to realize this forward-looking project for our client Barnet Europe. Our sincere thanks go to everyone involved – especially the Barnet project team, Modevconsult, and Goldbeck – for their commitment and teamwork in reaching this remarkable milestone.”

Nadine Leonhardt, Mayor of Eschweiler, commented: “This topping-out ceremony marks another important milestone – not only for Barnet Europe but also for the structural transformation of our city. The new building is a prime example of sustainable construction, modern work environments, and successful collaboration between business and local government. I am delighted that the Barnet Group is investing here in Eschweiler, creating a wide range of jobs and bringing innovative future opportunities to our region.”
