Topping-out ceremony in Castrop-Rauxel: The Ruhr Logistics Park enters its final construction phase

PRODAC celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its warehouse and logistics property in Castrop-Rauxel. With the completion of the shell construction, a key milestone has been reached in the development of the new building at Klöckner Straße 55. The new facility, intended for single-tenant use, is scheduled for occupancy in July 2026 as planned.

On the approximately 18,300 m² site, formerly used for industrial purposes, the modern “Ruhr Logistics Park” is being developed, featuring around 7,705 m² of warehouse space, complemented by approximately 462 m² of office space and 385 m² of mezzanine space. The property will be equipped with a green roof, a photovoltaic system for fossil-free energy generation, smart building technology, and energy-efficient heat pumps. The sustainable building concept is further enhanced by EV charging infrastructure as well as greened bicycle and smoking shelters. Upon completion, certification according to the Gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is being targeted.

Lars Zimmermann, Managing Director of PRODAC and also the main contact for leasing, said: “With the topping-out ceremony, we are moving closer to our goal of delivering a high-quality property with flexible usability and a modern sustainability concept. Future tenants from production, warehousing, and logistics will benefit from first-class infrastructure and the economic dynamism of the region.”

Rajko Kravanja, Mayor of the City of Castrop-Rauxel, stated: “It is a great development for Castrop-Rauxel that PRODAC Industrial Real Estate GmbH will now develop the former ‘Grüter site,’ which had been hidden behind fences for decades. As a city, we would very much welcome companies from the manufacturing, processing, and finishing industries to settle at this location.”

Thomas Ratte, Head of Economic Development for the City of Castrop-Rauxel, emphasized the project’s importance for the region and added: “We are pleased that the construction of the Ruhr Logistics Park on Klöckner Straße will eliminate an urban planning deficiency that has existed for more than 15 years. Instead of building on greenfield land, the investors and all stakeholders have consciously opted to revitalize this brownfield site. This conserves valuable land resources and gives the area a new, future-proof perspective.”

Goldbeck has been commissioned as the general contractor for the construction. Modevconsult GmbH from Weinheim is responsible for managing the technical project processes on site.

Daniel Moritz, Managing Director of Modevconsult, expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction and added: “We are pleased with the on-schedule progress and the high quality of the work completed so far. The strong collaboration among all project stakeholders provides a solid foundation for the upcoming construction phases and timely completion.”

The logistics property is being developed in a prime transport location with direct access to the A2 motorway. Nearby transport arteries A40, A42, A43, and A45 ensure fast connections to regional and supra-regional markets—particularly towards the Benelux countries.
